Where the Meuse sets the tone
Here in eastern Limburg, the Meuse dictates the rhythm. Down through the ages, the river has carved its path through the valley, leaving behind a landscape where nature still feels wonderfully wild. This loop starts and ends at Camping Kikmolen, at cycle junction 61, and follows the story of the river. Expect sweeping views, sun-drenched paths, and long stretches of cycling along open banks.
The Maas Valley is renowned as one of Western Europe's driest and sunniest regions, and you feel that immediately in the landscape. Soils of gravel and pebbles give the area its distinctive character, ideal for hardy herbs, wildflowers, and even vineyards. En route, you'll pass places where the Maasland is not just something you see, but also something you taste. Stop at a wine estate, choose a sunny terrace, and savour local flavours shaped by this unique river landscape.
A ferry crossing adds a touch of adventure as you cycle to the Dutch side and then return. Simple, charming and typical of the Maas Valley. Above all, this route is about the rhythm of the river. Kilometres of relaxed cycling, changing views and cultural highlights along the way, before returning to Kikmolen with that fresh, sunny Maasland feeling.
