Kids Safari, discover the Big 4 in Hoge Kempen National Park

Did you know you don't have to travel all the way to Africa for a safari? Here in Belgium too, in the Hoge Kempen National Park, children can go on Kids Safari along the Hourglass Path and discover the “Big 4” of our local wilderness.

What can you expect?

Start your adventure at the Mechelse Heide gateway, Joseph Smeetslaan 280, Maasmechelen. Here you'll find free parking, information boards and facilities.
• Follow the 1 km paved loop of the Zandloperpad trail. The route is fully wheelchair accessible and circles the sand play area and the water play area.
• Keep a good lookout for wooden posts with QR codes along the way. Scan them with your smartphone or tablet to discover short films by biologist and filmmaker Frank Resseler, who showcases special creatures that live under stones, in the sand, or among the heather.
• Your mission: find all four hidden animals along the way. Who knows, maybe there's a little lion hiding behind a bush!

Finished the safari? Don't head home just yet. Just a few steps away lies the Wild Woods, a natural adventure playground where the fun continues with games, challenges, and learning in the great outdoors.
