national park high kempen
You never saw Limburg nature like this before
The Hoge Kempen National Park is Belgium’s only national park. A unique piece of nature where more than 12 000 hectares of forest and heathland are managed and protected. You experience nature there in special ways and become part of the landscape, so to speak. You can bike through the water, through the trees…. and since 2021 there is the newest gem:
cycling through the moors.
You can start this cycling experience of no less than 4 km from the Kikmolen campsite!

The National Park is also for hikers to lick their thumbs and fingers. The Kikmolen is located near the hiking area De Mechelse Heide. 7 hiking loops of varying distances let you discover this natural area. A short car or bike ride also gets you quickly to the Terhills and Pietersheim hiking areas, which highlight yet another very different part of the park.

Totally different, just as beautiful
Totally different, just as beautiful. The Meuse Valley not only has a rich history, but is also a treat for the eyes. Flat bike paths with beautiful vistas lead you from maasdorp to maasdorp.
Be sure to visit Oud-Rekem. This village was voted The Most Beautiful Village in Flanders and is a short bike ride from the Kikmolen. Oud-Rekem is also home to hiking area De Oude Weerd, with as many as 5 possible routes. Enjoy the tranquility of the meandering Meuse Valley.
In Hochterbampd (starting point in Neerharen) you will literally and figuratively get to know the inhabitants of the Meuse, for example the herd of Konik horses and the Galloway Cattle that run loose there. Admire may, touch or feed rather not.
